Meaning of chimbera

The chimbera is as it is naturally called in Bilbao to a shotgun or rifle pellets to compressed air. They are very common in exhibition kiosks that are mounted when the festivities reach a village. The origin of the word chimbera comes from that there was a time in bilbao in which the chimbo being " General name of passerine birds belonging to the Muscicapidae family of the genus Sylvia. They are small, insectivorous. " they lived in ordas by Bilbao and were organized spoon baits where it took the shotgun and is went out to hunt them to eat later. Hence became known as shotgun or carbine that hunted, the chimbera, since they killed chimbos with her. Both hunt Alava neighbours we began to call the chimbos nickname that was accepted naturally in the villa.
