Looking for scraps of my childhood maragata ( San José de Mayo, Uruguay ) fondly remembered the expression " what chijete! ". Googling the word, found in a page of Flores, Uruguay ( San Jose 41-bordering Department; that the 40 porongueros; native flowers ) have it as self-expression, being that they use it with the same sense that the maragatos, namely: " expression in very common use in flowers, almost a hallmark of this land. Identifies us almost as much as the " TA " the Uruguayans. Used instead of " nonsense 34, " marionette " etc. and occasionally to express speed or hurry: "It came out as chijete... " I believe that this definition a little more specifies the use of the term also in San Jose. ( the aforementioned page is: http://flores.org.uy/cultura/costumbr.htm )
