They are forests in which a tree predominates in Chile and Argentina, which is called chañar. This tree also receives other names such as lucuma. Its scientific name is Lucuma spinoza and belongs to the Fabaceae family. It is also scientifically called Geoffroea decorticans by Moussy or Gourliea chilensis by Clos (synimias). It is frost resistant and has some medicinal uses.
