From Greek katharsos, purification, purging, soul liberation. Aristotle in his Poetics defines her as psychosomatic emotional purification in the experience of compassion and fear. This is how he masterfully describes the Stench, the experiences of Athenoid expectants of tragedies such as Oedipus or his daughter Antigone in the face of the adverse and cruel fate.
