It is the seed of the cashew tree (Anacardium occidentale), which is mainly used in pastry and jams. The name cajú ( cayú ) is of Tupi origin, as acaiu : aca ( "nut" ) iu ( "producer" ) ; chestnut is more of an argument of sale. See mereys, marañon.
