Among other meanings, the 'caranga' is a hematophagous insect, which depending on the region can be the name of a louse or a bedbug.

Caranga ( stool ) and therefore in some parts of Colombia has a derogatory meaning, referring to a person totally negligible and ruin.

carangas means in quechua of southern " cerro de plata ". In South America there are two hills called " 34 carangas;. One in Potosi - Bolivia, and one in the District of Santiago de Lucma, located in the province of Gran Chimú - La Libertad - Peru Region.
