( Of the Br. begard, and this of the neerl. )( beggaert , mendicant monk). 1. m. and f. heretic of the 13th and 14th century, who professed doctrine very similar to the Gnostics and enlightened, defending, inter alia, the impeccable of the human soul when he arrives at the sight of God, which believed possible in this life. They spread much Italy, France and the Netherlands and came to penetrate in Catalonia.
