The Bayadère is a ballet, one of the fundamental works of the Repertoire of the classical dance companies. The composer Ludwig Minkus put music to a libretto based on two dramas by the hindu poet K lid sa. The libretto was written by Serguéi Judekov and Marius Petipa, who created the choreography. It premiered at the Bolshoi Kamenny Theatre in St. Petersburg on January 23, 1877.
