1- Baptizer. St. John the Baptist was a Jewish preacher, most famous for having had the privilege of baptizing Jesus of Nazareth in the Jordan River. Before that event, the Baptist had announced the arrival of the Redeemer, specifically saying "that after him would come another who would not only baptize with water, but also with the Holy Spirit", in clear allusion to Jesus.
