SOFT VARNISH Engraving technique derived from etching. The engraving plate is covered with a layer of varnish composed of wax, resin and bait and which is presented in the form of a ball, paste or block. By having a thicker and more viscous consistency, the varnish allows the production of images similar to those made directly with pencil.
