The correct term is balearica. It means related or native of the Balearic Islands. It was the name of a Roman province which corresponded to the Balearic Islands and that was broken off from the province of Tarragona (Tarragona). Balearica, thus without accent, is a genus of bird of the family Gruidae (cranes), they belong to the African crowned cranes.
