It was the name of an old volume measurement used in Spain. It was equivalent to 4 quarters or approximately 2 liters in the Basque Country, Castilla and Valencia. It is clarified that the measure was not exactly the same in all regions despite having the same name. Even in San Sebastian it was more than 2, 5 liters.
