It is said of the elongation, usually unnecessary, of a noun by adding endings and/or prefixes to give it a supposed greater packaging and importance, and sounds to the listener or reader as more elaborate, complex and bombastic, but that usually expresses worse the same thing as the original noun, which says it better and more briefly by itself.
