amaranth . ( Del gr. ?µ??(a? t?, no Withers). 1. m. annual plant of the family of the Amarantáceas, from eight to nine decimetres of tall, with thick, shrub, oblong, wavy leaves, flowers terminals in dense spikes, velvety and compressed way of Crest, and commonly, according to the different varieties of the plant, carmesíes, yellow, white or accented, and fruit containing several seeds black and shiny. It is found in the India and is grown in gardens as a ground of adorno. 2. m. Crimson Color. U t. c. adj.
