The acalacas are a large winged ants. In some regions of Colombia are known as culonas, where they are edible. In Colombia and Venezuela also are told pelletized, hormigas culonas or mayeras ants. Chitacana say them in Mexico and Central America zompopo or zompopo may. Its scientific name is Atta laevigata and belongs to the family Formicidae.
