In Galician, Portuguese and Spanish, avocado, mean the same thing. It is one of the common names of a tree and a fruit of American origin, which is considered highly nutritious. Its scientific name is Persea americana and belongs to the family Lauraceae. It also receives other common names such as e.g. avocado. In Nahuatl ahuacatl or avocado means testicle.
