In Mexico and especially in Oaxaca, it is one of the names of a plant of culinary uses. It is also called chirimole, guasmole or guaxmole. In totonaco language is called ixquihit , . Bexo sheet. In Chiapas it is called g-irimul. It is used to make the mole yellow. Leaves and fruits are used. They look like their banana leaves and serve to wrap tamales. Its scientific name is Renealmia alpinia and belongs to the family Zingiberaceae.
