It is an agricultural measure used in Mexico, which is equivalent to 20 x 20 or 400 square meters (four areas). Also in Mexico is a type of woven rope used to hang things. In El Salvador there is a Rap band, which is called Mecate. It is a word of Nahuatl origin.
