In Colombia it is synonymous with midwife or woman who attends births. A woman from a distinguished family and who has many descendants is also called a midwife.
Matron. ( s . f . ) 1- Mother of a distinguished and respectable family. 2- Woman who assists another woman during childbirth. In the latter case it has two synonyms: midwife and midwife.
