The correct term is marañón, with tilde. In Colombia it is the name of a tree and its fruit, which we also call merey. Other common names you receive are: cashew, pepa, cashew, cashew, cashew, ajuil, caguil. Its scientific name is Anacardium occidentale. It is recognized as the fruit of memory. Also, in South America it is the name of a Peruvian river that is born in the Department of Huanuco and is a tributary of the Upper Amazon.
