It is the name of a genus of beetles in the family Cantharidae (Subfamily Malthininae). They are beetles with elongated bodies. It means cold, icy in Norwegian. There are a 20 species of this genus. In Astrophysics it is the name of an asteroid. It means dedicated or in honor of Frost (a professor at the University of Chicago, named Edwin Brant Frost).
