It is an image that can be interspersed with characters in text sent as an electronic message ( SMS , EMail , . . . ) and makes sense of its own. It appeared in Japan (which already has an ideographic type script) and then spread to everyone. Monochrome emojis are usually incorporated into fonts in specific unicode blocks ( Miscellaneous Symbols , Dingbats , . . . ) , but if a graphic and color applications or OS are available, the applications or OSes make a replacement.
