It is called 'via ferrata' to a steep road or with risk of falling for travelers on foot that is equipped with a hardware store (carabiners, handrails, steel ingot, . . . ) to hold on, climb or avoid accidents to persons who are not sufficiently prepared to travel through it. It comes from the Italian via ferrata ("herrado road") , which the Spanish translated into its first word ("via") but kept the second, which is how it is known in most countries and has its Latin etymology in ferrum, i ("iron".
